The 2023 Formula 1 extravaganza has reached Mexico City for this week’s Mexican GP. While the hype around the event has started to build up nicely, Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen have stolen some of its limelight with their football-related shenanigans at a Red Bull event.
The duo has been on a contrasting run of form during the ongoing campaign, but despite this, both were in high spirits during a recent Red Bull event. Moreover, Sergio Perez showed off some brilliant footballing skills, leaving Max Verstappen stumped in front of a decent gathering.
From the video, it can be seen that during the Red Bull event, Verstappen was playing the part of a goalkeeper, whereas Sergio Perez acted as if he had Neymar’s spirit in him. Firstly, the latter sucked the Dutchman into making a challenge by showing him the ball; however, the moment Verstappen fell for it, Perez made a slick move toward the right, and it was game over at that moment.

Looking at how happy the two Red Bull drivers have looked in the video, these are positive signs ahead of the mega Mexican Grand Prix. In recent times, several rumors have made the rounds of there being some tension within the Red Bull camp because of a plethora of reasons.
Sergio Perez needs a strong outing in front of his home support
While Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen have indulged in a few fun games since landing in Mexico City, the upcoming events hold great significance, especially for Perez. He has not been in the best form this year and desperately needs a strong outing in front of his home fans.
Moreover, the Mexican event is crucial also because, at the famous Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez F1 circuit, Perez would have the opportunity to further extend the gap between himself and Lewis Hamilton in the 2023 Drivers Championship. Hamilton’s DSQ is Austin has opened the door for Perez to pounce and create a decent buffer.

But, considering how up and down Sergio Perez has been behind the wheel of the mighty RB19, it will not be easy for him to come up with a sensational outing. The pressure is on Perez to perform in front of home fans, and his upcoming three-day outing would be a fascinating watch.
