The Las Vegas GP gave the audience a massive show that lives up to the hype around the race. Ever since the start of this 2023 season, the FIA have maintained that the race on the famous Vegas Strip would be an entertainment extravaganza. The glamor hub of America was thus transformed into a racing circuit for the Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix. And as the F1 circus reached there for the weekend to begin, some hiccups occured during the Free Practice.

But keeping the mishaps aside, the Las Vegas GP saw some good action on a track that was new to every single driver on the grid. The McLarens had a poor weekend with both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri getting out of Qualifying in Q1. The things did not change for Norris during the Main Race as he encountered an on-track incident. But the track was quite favorable to Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Leclerc seemed primed to win his first race of the season in Vegas at one point in time as Max Verstappen was running in the 11th place.

But the reigning Champion turned the tables on his Monegasque rival and ended up winning the first-ever Las Vegas GP. He was followed by Charles Leclerc in the second position and his teammate Sergio Perez in the third. But once the race on the famous Vegas Strip wrapped up, it were the FIA Marshalls who stole the show. They were spotted playing with two giant life-size dice in true Sin City style.

Max Verstappen’s opinions on Las Vegas GP do a 180° after he wins the race

Throughout the weekend in Las Vegas, Max Verstappen had been busy badmouthing the race proceedings. He started off with saying that he felt like a clownshow during the Hunger Games-style opening ceremony and even called out the Vegas GP for being 99% entertainment and 1% racing. He also voices his concerns about the audience not being allowed into the grandstands during FP2 despite buying tickets to the event. But when he crossed the finish line at the top position, it seems his opinions changed within seconds.

I think it created quite a lot of good racing here today so it was definitely a lot of fun. Great crowd I mean I hope everyone enjoyed it a bit. We definitely did. So yeah already excited to come back here next year.
Max Verstappen was quoted by SkySports in the post-race interviews.

In other news, Max Verstappen’s most recent win in Las Vegas has taken his Grand Prix victory count to an impressive 18 in this season alone. He has also gotten 20 podium wins, which means that the Dutchman failed to enter into the top 3 at all but one Grand Prix in 2023. With only one race left to end the season, it is certain that this year will be scripted as the peak of Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s incredible dominance in F1.
