Max Verstappen, the newly crowned triple World Champion, comes to Austin with the same energy and intensity. Verstappen won the title in the sprint of the last Qatar GP, becoming the only driver ever to win the Championship on a Saturday. Now, even with DNFing all remaining races, the Dutchman would still have the most points by the end of the season. But is it enough for Verstappen?
In the first run of Q3 on the Friday Qualifying of the Austin GP, Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez was ahead of him in the last corner. According to the Dutchman, he was forced into the Mexican’s car’s dirty air. After this run, the triple Champion was only third on the provisional time sheet.
After this incident, the Dutchman soon jumped onto the team radio and was found screaming and blaming his teammate and team. Verstappen was visibly angry with the blatant team error.
Well done, well f****** done there!...What the f*** was that in the last corner? F****** b*******.Verstappen said, as reported by Crash.net
However, this is not Verstappen’s first time screaming either at his teammate or his team. Earlier this year, in the Spanish GP, Verstappen was found screaming at his radio engineer. The Dutchman shouted after being asked to push at the end of a rain-soaked FP2 session.

Max Verstappen’s error in Q3 gifts Charles Leclerc the pole in Austin
After catching up with Perez at the end of his first run in Q3 for the Friday Qualifying, Verstappen narrowly missed out on a pole for the US GP. He made a mistake in the first sector of his final Q3 run when Charles Leclerc was on the provisional pole. After that, the Dutchman had to push his limits to cover his mistake. Which he, in fact, did, only to fall short of the track limits at Turn 19 of COTA.

Due to this, the Dutchman’s lap was deleted, gifting the pole for Sunday’s grand prix to Leclerc. “I knew in Turn 19, it was gonna be a close call,” Verstappen explained. “It’s very fine margins when you try to push the limit. It’s unfortunate for the team but it makes Sunday more fun,” he concluded.
Verstappen is looking for his 50th career win this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas. The Dutchman is only short of 2 wins to break Alain Prost‘s most-wins record. And four away from the former Red Bull Champion Sebastian Vettel.
