“We are here to win,” Aston Martin puts out ‘statement of intent’ signing Fernando Alonso
Mike and Fernando
Aston Martin has signed Fernando Alonso for the 2023 F1 season and its Team Principal Mike Krack has given insights into what the team can expect from him and how they will make a push to get to the front end of the grid.
Mike Krack believes that Fernando Alonso is going to bring his ‘killer instinct’ to the Aston Martin F1 team in 2023. The 41-year-old has signed a multi-year deal with the team and is going to take the seat left vacant by Sebastian Vettel.
Aston Martin will be the fifth Constructor that Alonso will join in 2023 and Krack feels that they are getting a complete driver who will help them reach their goals next season.
While appreciating the Spaniard, Krack said, “[Fernando] just has that killer instinct, no matter what, you know that he will always give you everything: always push 100 percent, always extract the maximum from the car and the team.”
“His racecraft is exceptional – a formidable combination of confidence, instinct, and intelligence.”
“He will demand a lot from us, but that’s to be expected from a multiple World Champion.”
“Fernando will be a driving force as we climb together and, like everyone in the team, I cannot wait to work with him.“
Mike Krack: Aston Martin is on a journey to the front of the grid
Aston Martin has done a brilliant job roping in Fernando Alonso for next season and given the enthusiasm that the team has shown, they mean business in 2023 and are going to come at the other teams with everything that they have got.
Alonso is driving at his level best this season and Aston Martin believes that he will show the same level of commitment and desire next season that will help the team in propelling itself to the front end of the grid.
Mike krack has revealed that the signing of the Spaniard shows the direction that the wants go in and while talking about it said, “Signing Fernando is a clear statement of our intent at Aston Martin F1. We are not on the grid to make up the numbers. We are here to win.”
“We are on a journey to the front of the grid and Fernando’s decision to join us on that journey – to have a driver of his caliber believe in the Aston Martin F1 project – is a great compliment to our team and the work we are doing.”
“The prospect of having Fernando and Lance in the car next year is a hugely exciting one.”
Aston Martin has made it clear that they are not in the sport to fool around and after looking at what their Team Principal has said about next year, the Silverstone-based team is going to do everything in their power to provide Alonso and Stroll with the machinery with the help of which they will be able to make their way up on the grid.
Like all teams in F1, their ultimate aim is also to win the Championship, and given the terrible state of the team this year, will they be able to compete with the big teams in 2023?
