“We are in a very different position than Ferrari,” Helmut Marko denies claims of Red Bull already exhausting its budget

Red Bull and Ferrari have been at each other’s throat ever since the start of the season. When we say that, it’s just not about their competition on the track. This also includes the game of poker that is going on off it. In the beginning, it seemed like Ferrari and Charles had the edge but slowly and steadily, Max Verstappen and Red Bull are also coming back into it.

But, this comeback has been speculated to be down to the incredible amount of money spent by the Milton Keynes outfit. We saw a transformed Red Bull which had more raw pace than the Ferrari and Max Verstappen took full advantage of it as he registered his third win of the season cementing the second position and cutting down Charles Leclerc’s lead to just 19 points which had reached 40 points at a point in time.

But, Helmut Marko after the win clarified that Red Bull has not spent a lot of money on the upgrades but have just tried to make the RB-18 a more reliable car. But, it’s difficult to say that after what we saw on Friday with Max Verstappen missing out on two practice sessions ahead of the inaugural Miami GP. Mattia Binotto has fired shots at Red Bull claiming that it won’t be able to keep up the spending at this pace.

Helmut Marko also hasn’t held back as far as the war of word goes. He has said that Ferrari also has had to spend a lot because of the crashes suffered by Carlos Sainz.

In his latest interview, Marko said, ”I don’t think we are in a very different position than Ferrari in this respect. Especially considering I wonder what the effect will be of Carlos Sainz who crashed his car significantly several times.

“That will not be cheap,” as reported by gpblog.

This war between the two heavyweights is expected to go on till the very last race of the season. Upgrades will play a huge factor and therefore both Red Bull and Ferrari would want to save money for the business end of the season.
