“We are not taking anything for granted,” Sergio Perez is cautious ahead of the second leg of the 2022 F1 season

Sergio Perez has brought his expectations down for the season after managing to bounce back after a row of disappointing performances at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Sergio Perez was in fine form during the initial phase of the 2022 season where he was able to stay at par and on occasion was able to outperform Max Verstappen.

The 32-year-old’s victory at the Monaco Grand Prix put him in contention for the 2022 Drivers Championship but ever since the upgradation of the RB18, the Mexican’s performances have taken a huge dive, both in Qualifying and in race sim.

Perez has had two DNFs since his win in Monaco and his performances have put him on the back foot in comparison to Max Verstappen who is 85 points ahead of him.

However, Sergio Perez’s performance at the Hungaroring must have given him confidence going ahead into the second leg of the 2022 F1 season. While stressing over his expectations for the season ahead Perez said, “It is good but we are not taking anything for granted.”

“We are aware the last couple of races have been difficult from our side, things have changed a bit in the car so we have to understand everything and come back a lot stronger for the triple-header.”

Christian Horner is hoping to find solutions for Sergio Perez’s track limit problems

Sergio Perez had a pretty up and down last few races before the start of the summer break and it was nicely summed up by a track limit issue at the Hungaroring, where his initial Q2 time was stripped away for track limit violations and later reinstated after proper review.

Christian Horner has recently asked to give his opinion on how much of a headache Perez’s track limit issue is becoming for the Red Bull team and Horner said, “I think the drivers have voiced their opinions within the briefing and I think that hopefully, these things will be got on top of a bit quicker.”

There are only 9 races left in the 2022 F1 season and if the Milton-Keynes based wants to stay ahead in both the Championships, then Sergio Perez has to cut down on his errors so that Red Bull can fend off the challenge of Ferrari in the second leg of the season.
