“We are seeing Michael come out,” Former F1 racer believes Mick Schumacher has started showing signs of his father

Mick and Michael
In the last two races, Mick Schumacher has become the town’s talk with back-to-back finishes in the points-scoring positions, and ex-Formula One racer, Jonny Herbert believes Mick has now started showing signs of his father’s characteristics while fighting it out on the track.
Mick Schumacher did not have the best of starts to the 2022 season as the young German crashed his car a couple of times and came under heavy criticism from team Principal Guenther Steiner.
However, all that has changed in the last few races, Mick scored the first points of his F1 career in Silverstone where he managed a P8 finish, and immediately in Austria was able to finish in P6.
Herbert was recently asked if Schumacher after the last few races has started doing what was expected of him, and the Brit while agreeing has said, “Yeah definitely. That tough crash at Saudi Arabia is something you have to learn from, this experience you sort of take on board, put it in a little box in the back of your head.“

“But I think it’s the way he’s grown in recent times, getting that result and so it’s absolutely essential for him to be honest with Guenther sort of pressurizing him and saying ‘well, we’ve run out of time, you’ve got to get on with it.’ And he did. And that is under pressure.”

Mick was angry after the Sprint race in Austria as he was not allowed to overtake his teammate Magnussen and felt that he had more pace as compared to his teammate.
Herbert believes that this was the moment where the true Mick was on show for everyone, the angry side that he inherited from his father Michael Schumacher.
“But now we’re seeing Michael come out, dad, and that is the angry side and that is a very, very important part of being a racing driver,” Herbert continued.
“When things aren’t quite going as you want them to do, you have got to make a point. It’s great to see that, because now we’re seeing the true Mick.”

The two good performances from Mick have put him in good stead and has now climbed to P15 in the Drivers Championship with 12 points to his name.
Moreover, his teammate Kevin Magnussen is now only 10 points ahead of him and in the upcoming races, the German would certainly be looking close the gap further and prove to everyone that he can put performances in on a consistent basis.
