Mercedes has been one of the most successful Formula 1 teams in the turbo-hybrid era. With a record-breaking 8 Constructors’ Championship titles under their belt, Mercedes has dominated the tracks ever since Hamilton’s winning streak started in 2014. With the best drivers to drive for them, and the best resources to back them, Mercedes developed into an unbeatable force in F1.

Mercedes’ rise to the top has been closely associated with one Austrian man–Toto Wolff. Wolff has headed Mercedes since 2013 when he became an executive director of the team. The Mercedes engineers have time and again wowed the Motorsport fans with their innovative technologies and their cars came to be known as Silver Arrows as they could cut through the tracks at lightning speed.

But the Stuttgart team has not been very successful in the new season of Formula 1. With the announcement of new regulations for the 2022 season of the sport by the FIA, Mercedes’ engine seems to be one of the weakest on the track. While teams like Ferrari and Red Bull have succeeded in fetching their drivers a P1 position in the first three races of the season, Mercedes struggles to get a P4 finish in the races. Despite these challenges, Merc Boss Toto Wolff believes his team is on the right path to make a comeback in the Championship fight.

According to experts, the Mercedes engine for the 2022 season is the least powerful on the track. Teams using the engine–Mercedes, McLaren, and Aston Martin, have all underperformed incomparison with their previous year’s campaigns. But the Mercedes engineers have been working hard to find a solution to their woes.

Speaking for the team during a recent interview, Mercedes Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff said, “We believe that we’ve found improvements with the E10 fuel. The Brixworth team are doing a good job. At the moment the fact that we have too much drag does not help it.

If Toto’s words come true, Ferrari and Red Bull should not feel too comfortable with their Championship standings because Mercedes can improve with their first batch of updates coming up in Imola during the Emiglia Romania Grand Prix. Will the Silver Arrows be able to achieve great results in the race next Sunday? That remains to be seen.
