“We can hopefully improve on our performance,” Max Verstappen gears up to bounce back from the defeat in Austria
Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen is leading the championship with a huge lead from Charles Leclerc, but the Dutchman recently stated that going into France, there has to be perfection to win and increase the lead on Leclerc. Verstappen has been driving excellent but it is no secret that his style of driving goes really heavy for the tyres and he ends up damaging them. The temperatures at Paul Ricard would remain warm, which would not be so easy on the tyres, so tyre management would be crucial during the race in order for Verstappen to take victory.
Although Red Bull is amazingly fast on straights, Ferraris are much faster on corners and fast corners, giving them an advantage in France because the Paul Ricard circuit is composed of many fast and slow corners, and relatively, there are less straights for Max to gain on. On top of this, Ferrari have recently matched the Bull’s pace, making it harder for Verstappen to keep Leclerc out of his way. “We had a good result last year in France as a Team. The track has a lot of technical and high-speed corners towards the end, so it will be important to look after the tyres, especially considering it’s going to be a very hot weekend,” Max Verstappen stated.

France would be a gamble for both Max Verstappen and Ferrari
Although the track would help Ferrari in keeping the lead, at the same time the temperatures could be hard on the Ferrari engines. There have been multiple failures in Scuderia’s engines in races where the temperature was high, and although both the drivers have relatively new engines, it could still be a gamble for them to win. Max Verstappen states that they could take a revenge after the Austrian Grand Prix; “I’m looking forward to another race week where we can hopefully improve on our performance from Austria and learn from our result last time out,” GPBlog quoted him.
After some of the most amazing performances, Max Verstappen currently leads the championship with a massive lead of 208 points, and Leclerc is catching him up with 170 points in his bag.
