“We had really good pace,” Max Verstappen elated after winning the French GP
Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen won the French Grand Prix after the crash of Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari in Lap18. Max happily extended his lead in the championship with his direct rival out of the race. Charles brilliantly managed to fight Max for the first 11 laps with the gap between the driver being under 1 second. As both the drivers fought wheel to wheel it was Red Bull’s speed on the straight giving them a heads up against Ferrari’s speeds at the corners. The driver managed a very clean fight with ultimately Charles winning it every time. As the Ferrari driver started to get comfortable with the increasing gap between him and Max things took a turn. Charles lost his rear end of the car spinning around hitting the barriers and not being able to reverse the car for another go getting out of the race.
Max Verstappen used this opportunity brilliantly taking the lead of the race and keeping that lead till the end winning the French GP. Verstappen’s RB18 showed an amazing pace throughout the race as he was unmatched by any other driver but the devastated Charles Leclerc. The 2021 world championship looks forward to another world championship this season as Charles’s mistakes cost him another 25 points deficit to the lead. Verstappen appreciated his overall pace and pointed out a bit of luck he carried out on the track.
“I think we had a really good pace at the start and I was putting pressure on Charles, but following around here with this heat I wasn’t able to go for a move. Only once into turn 11, but we tried to stay calm and stay close, “ said Max Verstappen.
“From there you never know how the race will go. The car was quick today. Unlucky for Charles today. I hope he is okay. From there I just did my race and looked after the tyres,” said concerned Max checking over Leclerc’s state after the crash.
Max Verstappen’s answered over his work being easy as his only rival crashed.
Max Verstappen was asked about Charles’ crash which actually made his work throughout the race easier than expected. Charles gave the regaining world champion a run for his money. After a win in Austria, Leclerc’s confidence was over the charts as he managed to keep Max behind over 15 laps starts. Though his mistake just covered all his work throughout the weekend.
” I try to get the most points possible. You see some moves on and then sometimes you have to back out and wait until the end of the race. We have some work to do over a single lap… keep working said” concluded the French GP winner.
Max has now extended his lead to the championship to 63 points which seems an impossible task for any driver to cover as of now. Leclerc is the only one who could still manage to close the gap. But it looks like a second-world title for the 24-year-old Red bull driver incoming.
