“We have got four races until summer break,”: Mattia Binotto confident new engine will help Charles Leclerc
Mattia and Charles
Mattia Binotto the Ferrari team Principal has asked Charles Leclerc to bring his “beast mode” out during the next few races as he feels that Leclerc would be able to hunt down Verstappen after the new engine on his F1-75.
Ferrari has got four races till the summer break of the 2022 season and they want to reduce the gap between them and Red Bull as much as possible.
Leclerc finished P5 after starting from the back of the grid in Canada and the Monegasque’s surge has made Mattia Binotto trust Leclerc even more. After the 24-year-old’s impressive showing in Canada, Binotto feels that he can get the Scuderia Ferrari team back in the Championship picture.
Charles Leclerc is currently on 126 points after 9 rounds whereas his main rival Max Verstappen has got 175 points to his name. Despite the huge deficit Binotto has backed his driver to do what Red Bull did to them by going ahead of them in the Championship.

Mattia Binotto believes that the new engine will help Charles Leclerc
After Leclerc’s Baku DNF there was a lot of talk regarding him taking a grid penalty for Canada and that is what happened as Ferrari decided to switch the wrecked engine for a new one.
The early reveal by Ferrari helped Leclerc as during practice sessions he was focussing on longer runs and very little emphasis was put on single-lap pace.
Leclerc finished 5th but Verstappen scored another race win for the Red Bull team and Ferrari was not able to do as much damage limitation as they wanted.
However, from the upcoming British Grand Prix onwards Leclerc is going to have a new power unit on his car and while stressing about it Binotto said, ” We’ve got four races until the summer break – that will be important to him where he can attack.”
“Let’s try to somehow recover some points if we can.“
Charles Leclerc has had the upper hand over Max Verstappen when it comes to Qualifying and now that Leclerc has got a new PU on his car, how much do you think the Monegasque would be able to push Verstappen in the upcoming four races?
