“We have zero info regarding my car here,” Max Verstappen frustrated after a disastrous practice session at Miami

Max Verstappen

After the first practice session of the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, drivers like Max Verstappen had a hard time driving around the circuit. Many of them spun and touched the wall, and some, including Valtteri Bottas and Carlos Sainz even crashed on the fast corners. Valtteri’s crash resulted in a completely destroyed rear wing, which is an uncommon sight to see. Red flags were waved after both the crashes.

Max Verstappen had a particularly hard time during the practice session, after Carlos Sainz’s crash. The Dutchman had some steering issues which made it difficult for him to steer and have a good few laps. All drivers, whether rookies or experts, need to run a few laps around in a new circuit to gather data, and as Verstappen previously said, it was being a little tough to find the right setup for the cars on the track, as it is a mix of extremely tight chicanes and straights.

Max Verstappen faced an overheating gearbox during FP1, which was changed by the Red Bull mechanics before FP2 as a precaution. But even after heading out for FP2, Verstappen could not set any laptime as he had hydraulics and steering issues with his car. His brakes were seen catching fire because of the heat, and soon pulled back into the garage.

Red Bull faced reliability issues with Max Verstappen’s car again.

Sergio Perez's Red Bull in FP3

As seen during the Bahrain and the Australian Grand Prix, Red Bull faced a lot of reliability issues with Max’s car, which made him retire early in both of the races.

The same issues, but with different parts of the cars, were faced by Red Bull during the session again. On the other hand, teammate Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez was able to set a couple of fast laps, making him finish 4th and 3rd in FP1 and FP2, respectively.

On a surprising side, Mercedes seem to have installed a couple of new developments in their cars, which made George Russell finish 2nd in FP1 and 1st in FP2. Lewis Hamilton followed him at 8th and 4th.

The top 3 from FP2 were Geroge Russell in the Mercedes, Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari, and Sergio Perez in the Red Bull.
