Mercedes has been off the pace during the 2022 season and after 11 rounds, the team is currently in third place in the Constructors Championship with Ferrari and Red Bull out of their catching range.

However, since the British Grand Prix, the team has started showing signs of improvement, and Hamilton while talking about his team after the British GP said, “For me, it doesn’t feel that way, because my life hasn’t always been like that. You just prioritize differently, you change your expectations and you readjust.”

Lewis Hamilton is disappointed with the state of affairs at the Brackley-based team but has stressed that adversity is something that he has been through before as well and for him, it is just about accepting how things are and adjusting the expectations accordingly.

In the early phase of the 2022 season, Mercedes was struggling with porpoising and that put them on the back foot from the very start against Red Bull and Ferrari.

Hamilton while stressing about the job that the team did during the off-season said, “Ultimately, it’s important for us to realize that we haven’t done the best job.”

“We just have to stay on course and keep on collecting data and trying things.”

Lewis has somewhat given hope of catching the front-running teams this season and has asked the crew to keep their head up and keep focussing on collecting data and trying new things in order to get what they have been after since the start of the current season.

Hamilton further added, “We’ve taken tons of time off the car that we couldn’t utilize because of the bouncing.”

Mercedes has solved the porpoising issue but despite that, they were well off the pace of Ferrari and Red Bull in Austria. However, Toto Wolff and Co. are confident about their chances during the upcoming French Grand Prix as just like Silverstone, it is also a smooth track that they believe will suit their W13.
