Renault decided to change the name of its F1 team to Alpine in 2021 with the hope of injecting new life into this branch of the team, and looking at how things have panned out for the newly formed outfit so far, the team has grown on track, as well as off track, with a boost in the sales of the brand.

However, while the Alpine brand is in a period of growth because of its F1 team, the real question is if they would be able to challenge for the F1 title anytime soon.

Since 2021, Alpine has done well for itself, considering it has jumped from P5 in 2021 to P4 during the current campaign in the Constructors Championship.

While the French team has made a jump in the right direction during the current campaign, its CEO has somewhat downplayed the team’s chances of fighting for titles in the upcoming years and added, “Two years ago, when Alpine was born, the Formula 1 team was not considered an asset in the company, but instead an expense.”

In these two years, we have changed things, not only in the company overall, which is now a top-tier car manufacturer but also in the racing program, which is really ambitious.”

We hope to be a candidate for the title in 2026, our presence in Formula 1 has allowed us to boost the recognition of the brand worldwide.”

After looking at what Alpine’s CEO has had to say about the team’s prospects in the upcoming years of the sport, it can be said that its fans should not expect them to be fighting for Championships anytime soon.

Moreover, 2026 is the year when regulations are again going to change, but until then, there are still quite a decent number of years to go and it will be fascinating to see whether the team would be able to cope with the challenges of the sport until then.
