Helmut Marko has been left extremely frustrated after the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were only able to manage a P10 and P11 finish during the Hungarian qualifying.

The Austrian has deemed the team outing as a disgrace and feels that Red Bull is going to need a lot of luck if they are to propel themselves further up the grid during the Grand Prix.

Sergio Perez was knocked out in the Q2 session where a bit of confusion was created for him regarding his lap time, but despite getting his initial time back, the Mexican was not able to land his RB18 in the top 10 at the end of Q2.

While Perez’s progress came to a halt at P11, his teammate Verstappen also did not have the kind of outing he wanted either. The Dutchman faced engine issues during the Q3 session and as a result, ended his session in P10.

While Red Bull is going to start the upcoming race from the middle of the pack, their main rival Ferrari is up there at the top end of the grid with Leclerc P3 and Sainz P2.

Helmut Marko just like all the other Red Bull, staff sounded like a dejected man, and while giving his opinion on the outing of his drivers, Marko said, “Singapore, Monaco, and this track are the three circuits where you really don’t want something like this. We need a lot of luck.” 

Marko gave a special mention to Verstappen’s unfortunate problem and said, “In the first run of Q3, he made a braking error and wasted his front tires. In the second run, the full engine power was not available.”

Everything is done and dusted and now all that Red Bull can now do is focus on the race and try to do as much damage limitation as possible.

Red Bull currently has a healthy lead in the Constructors Championship and during the Grand Prix, one of their targets is going to be to finish as high as possible.

However, it is easier said than done, Hungaroring is one of those peculiar tracks where overtaking is very difficult and it is going to be interesting to see how the duo will fair starting around the midfield pack.
