“We need to do a better job,” Pierre Gasly calls on AlphaTauri to improve following a disappointing Singapore GP

Pierre Gasly hasn’t been having a great season ahead of the regulation changes at the start of 2022. AlphaTauri is underperforming from what is expected and has been seen in the last few seasons. With Gasly even struggling to get on points this season, there is no way someone would believe the same team won a race back in 2020.

However, AlphaTauri looked strong under the street lights of Singapore, especially Gasly. He had started his race at P7 after a very good qualifying and was consistently driving at P5 but got his race turned by an untimely pit stop. The team judged the track conditions wrong and made an early call for the slick tyres. It didn’t work out for them.

Gasly urges his team to use their opportunities well” “We missed an opportunity to pick up good points, especially in terms of the Constructors’ in Singapore and we have to take a close look at how we ran the weekend. We need to do a better job as there is potential for some good results before the end of the year, starting right away in Japan, which I am so pleased to be visiting again after a two-year break,” said Gasly as per FIi.com

Pierre Gasly keeps his expectations high after a possible chance in the Singapore GP. Gasly opens up on his liking for the Japanese fans and track as the driver got a special reception back when he was driving for Red Bull. He keeps the same expectations after being paired with a Japanese teammate, Yuki Tsunoda.

“Suzuka is an incredible track, especially the first sector with all the quick corners and it’s definitely one of my top three favourite tracks. And going there as a Honda driver, it’s always a special feeling to be able to race in Japan in front of our fans,” said Gasly.

The Frenchman is pleased to be back at Suzuka, and hopes to recreate his good weekend from 2019: “So I am very happy that we are going to race there again. Last time we were there, back in 2019, I had a good weekend; qualifying ninth and finishing seventh, so let’s see what we can do this time.”

Pierre Gasly is still under contract with AlphaTauri for 2023, but rumours have been rife that he will be switching to Alpine. It seems Red Bull have an agreement with Nyck de Vries to replace the Frenchman, which should likely free up Gasly to go to Alpine.
