“We now believe that Bahrain was just a slip-up,” Andreas Seidl following Lando Norris’ Imola podium

McLaren didn’t have the best of starts with both Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo struggling to conjure up any sort of real pace at the start of the season. The situation was getting tense by every passing race with Haas becoming a serious threat in their midfield battle. It all started pretty badly for McLaren after what was strong last season. Both the drivers were outside of the points in the Bahrain GP.
Things got marginally better with Lando Norris registering his first points of the season but Daniel Ricciardo was still not able to make an impression. Australian GP was the one where both the drivers showed a lot of intent and both scored some valuable points. But there will still doubts on whether McLaren can do it consistently or not after what has been an awful start to the season keeping in mind their aspirations.
Imola GP can be said to be the one where all of these doubts might have been driven away by Lando Norris, who registered his first podium of the season. He looked ultra impressive with the car he was provided.

Andreas Seidl delighted with Lando Norris’ podium following McLaren’s early woes
Obviously Lando didn’t have the pace of Red Bull or Ferrari but he was ready to grind it out and pieces. And, so he did. He was all set to finish P4 when a mistake from Charles Leclerc presented him with an opportunity which he grabbed with both.
Andreas Seidl was elated with the result and expressed that after Lando’s surprising podium. He said, “We now believe that Bahrain was just a slip-up. We simply didn’t have enough data on the new car due to the problems during the test drives.”
“P3 for Lando today comes as the result of hard work and a well-managed strategy. He drove a great race today.”
“After a good start, he worked very hard, looked after his tyres, managed the gap to the cars we were racing and put himself in the best position to take advantage of any opportunity that came his way,” as reported by Formula1.
McLaren and Lando Norris both needed it for their aspiration to be the best. We all can see that Ferrari and Red Bull are head and shoulders above everyone but McLaren has an outside chance to pip Mercedes this year around, if they can get it right.
