“We should not do crazy things,” Toto Wolff warns Mercedes against taking ‘drastic actions’ that could potentially ruin team’s chances during 2023

Toto Wolff, the Mercedes Team Principal has recently shed light on the disappointing 2022 F1 season for the team and has indicated that, in a bid to improve the car for next year, the crew cannot afford to take drastic action that could potentially backfire.
Mercedes has massively dropped the ball in the current campaign and its W13 is nowhere near the lethal package that Ferrari and Red Bull have been able to come up with.
After 18 rounds, Mercedes is out of the running for the Drivers and Constructors Championship and this has come as a huge setback to the German team’s fanbase.
Toto Wolff is very much aware of this and while talking about it said, “We have to be humble and have to get back together, if something goes wrong, we blame the problem, not the person.”
He further adds, “Precisely now we have to find out what can be done better and take risks: we have always been strong at Mercedes.”
The Silver Arrows team boss has urged the people working at Mercedes to pull their socks up for next season and build a car that would be able to challenge for race wins next year.

Mercedes since the start of the turbo hybrid era was the absolute dominant force in F1 and was able to score race wins for fun, however, the 2022 regulations have not been kind to the German outfit as they have struggled to get to grips with it.
However, despite having a lackluster 2022 camping, Wolff is adamant that his team can do something special next year and has asked the team to not overdo things when it comes to the development of the car for 2023.
“We should especially not do crazy things.”
He further adds, “The puzzle is complete. The reason we didn’t perform as expected this year is that we didn’t put the pieces of the puzzle together.” The point now is to stay calm, straighten up and work hard, believe me, this is not the end of our hegemony, this is just a break.”
