Max Verstappen has demolished the competition in his wake and emerged as the driver most likely to win the world title for the second year running. The reigning world champion has won 10 out of the 15 races in 2022 and has a lead of 109 points over arch rival, Charles Leclerc. This has to be one of the most dominant seasons ever enjoyed by a driver in the long and rich history of F1.

The Dutchman faced stiff competition in the first few races from Charles Leclerc, which hasn’t been the case anymore. He has been in a league of their off late. The 24 year old has gone on to win 3 on the bounce to extend his already comfortable lead at the top of the table. The lead isn’t the scary part but the fact that Ferrari haven’t been competitive has been more worrisome.

Low downforce tracks or high downforce, Red Bull has had a solution. Everyone expected Red Bull to be second favorites at Zandvoort and Hungaroring but the Milton Keynes dug deep to grind out the best possible result. But, it would be a tough one to swallow for the Tifosi if that’s the case at Monza. Therefore, Mattia Binotto has confirmed that Ferrari will bring in some upgrades.

Ferrari’s Team Principal confirmed that the team has decided to bring in a special wing for Monza. He said, “For Monza, certainly we run a different type of wing, lower drag. So the speed itself will not be the concern.”

“It’s now three races in a row that we are not at what should be our potential and what we have proved to have as the potential of the car since the start of the season. That’s something that we need to address as soon as possible because there are few races which are left from now to the end of the season.”

“We still are looking for victories and our intention is to try to win at every single race, and that includes Monza.”

“After the Covid, it’s great still to have all our Tifosi in the grandstands. That would be important for us, because they will certainly cheer for us and boost us as a team, which right now we need to find some good results as well for this period.”

It would be a fascinating battle between the two heavyweights. While Ferrari would like to make an impression in front of the Tifosi, Red Bull would like to have a statement win in Ferrari’s backyard.
