“We weren’t able to make any progress,” AlphaTauri set for in-depth review after ‘dreadful’ outing in Austria

AlphaTauri has been off the pace of the mid-field pack this season and after going through a horrendous time at the Red Bull Ring, the team is all set to have a detailed review at their headquarters in Faenza.

The Red Bull sister team was one of the leading teams in the midfield battle last season, however, the story in 2022 has been the complete opposite. The team has struggled so far in the season and is currently in 8th place in the Constructors Championship.

At the Red Bull Ring, Gasly and Tsunoda finished 15th and 16th and that was their third consecutive finish outside of the top 10. The two drivers are not happy with the way things are at the moment and while talking about their struggles in Austria, Tsunoda said, “It’s been really tough, that was a long race.

I had no pace at all this weekend and really struggled with the car sliding all over the place.”

We need to go away and look at what the issue may be, as we’ve not seen anything in the data that explains why this weekend has been so difficult.”

I gave it my everything and there wasn’t much more I could’ve done, but this has been the hardest race weekend we’ve had so far this year.

The drivers on the team were not happy with the package that they had in Austria and just like them, their Technical Director Jody Egginton was also very down after the race.

Egginton has revealed that a big performance review is very close at the team headquarters in Faenza and is going to take place before the French Grand Prix.

A very difficult race for us today, as we weren’t able to make any progress.”

We’ve been on the backfoot all day and unfortunately have come away with nothing. We’ve got a lot to review back at base.”

Now our focus is to get our updates to the car ready for the French Grand Prix and get ourselves back into the midfield fight.”

AlphaTauri is well aware that if they want to have a say in the midfield battle, then they have to bring huge updates for their car because otherwise they will have only one way to go and that is down from their already bad 8th place.

Haas is currently ahead of them with 34 points to their name and it is going to be a stiff challenge to go past them given the kind of performances they have put this season.

All will be known, in a couple of weeks’ time when the cars will go racing at the French Grand Prix.
