Jean-Philippe Imparato was appointed the CEO of Alfa Romeo in 2021. It’s been two years since he arrived and he has been making changes. Prior to this, he spent four years with Peugeot. He has big plans for the Italian manufacturer. The boss believes that the brand’s vehicles should be focused on the driver. Imparato spoke about the electrification of cars in Alfa Romeo. The Alfa Romeo Tonale was launched this year. It is the first electric car in the history of the brand thereby making it special. The company aims to go to a zero-emission range in 2027.

Though they are aware of the rapid transition they need to ensure the survival of the brand. The CEO spoke to L’argus and shared a few pieces of vital information. A team of trainers are working on the chassis of the car that will be released in 2025. However, he declared that they will make decisions later in June 2023. He spoke fondly about the future plans for Alfa Romeo.

“We will release one car a year until 2030. This year, there is the Tonale. In 2024, we will have a launch that will complete the Tonale offer and meet the expectations of people who own a Mito or a Giulietta. We will have an offer on both MHEV (light hybridization) and electric. It will also be Alfa Romeo’s first electric model.” Imparato clarified that the 2024 model won’t be seen as an SUV and the name will be announced along with the details in September. The plan for 2025 is to launch their first 100% electric model. It will be a high-performance vehicle with 350-800 hp. They will also offer a 700 km range and the interesting part is that the customers will be able to recharge in 15 minutes.

The plan is to launch another car in 2026 and a vehicle of a higher range in 2027. Jean-Philipe wants to keep the DNA of the brand intact in spite of future plans. Though the design of the brand will gradually evolve, the aim is to make customers recognise Alfa Romeo’s design. The evolution of the car will be both internal and external.

The Italian Manufacturer is working along the lines of “It is an Alfa that will make the link between the past and the future of the brand. ” The team will begin their operations come April. The CEO states that it will not be a production car and they will be mostly sold out before he makes an announcement. Their aim is to make Alfa Romeo the leading brand in this field. Alfa Romeo has announced the end of its partnership with Sauber in Formula 1.

While speaking about the brand’s future in Formula 1, Imparato revealed that it will be decided by the end of June and that the company intends on staying in motorsport, either Formula One or prototype sport.
