“What a f***ing w***** he truly is,” McLaren starts the investigation into old abusive tweets of an employee aimed at Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton is undoubtedly one of the greatest drivers in F1. His record of winning seven world championships and over a hundred races are a testimony to his greatness. But with the success popularity, and love that he has amassed over his 15 years of F1 career also comes hate.

Recently, old tweets of a McLaren employee surfaced on Twitter. The tweets are directed toward Lewis Hamilton in a distasteful and hateful manner. While they have been deleted from the original profile, screenshots of a few of those have been shared on the social media platform. The fans urged the team to take strict action.

As reported by Mirror, one of the tweets, when Lewis Hamilton was awarded knighthood last year, read, “Oh f*** off! For having the fastest car on the grid. What a w*****.” Another tweet, after Lewis’ victory in Brazil last year read: “F***ing get in!!! F*** off you p****.”

Lewis has been the only McLaren driver to win the championship since Mika Hakkinen won it in 1999. Since then, no other driver has even come close to the title and thus McLaren fans have always shown their gratitude towards the now Mercedes driver.

As soon as the tweets resurfaced, McLaren was tagged to one of them. The team didn’t wait much and announced an investigation into the matter. They tweeted:

Apart from McLaren’s immediate action, fans expressed their anger towards the issue. Several McLaren fans urged the team to take strict action against the associated employee. The others asked the fans to rightfully and deservedly respect Lewis for his contribution to the sport and the team.
