When Red Bull’s Christian Horner was called ‘the Donald Trump of F1’ for his short yet hard-hitting tweets that invite controversy
Christian Horner has always been famous for airing his views without any filter no matter the number of controversies his comments ignite.
In the last few years, all of Formula 1 town has seen a massive battle at the top of the grid between Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari. For a long time, between 2014 and 2021, Mercedes have been the sole show-runner in the pinnacle of motorsports as they have won eight World Constructors’ Championship titles consecutively. But as soon as the FIA tweaked the rules ahead of the ’22 season, the Brackley outfit’s lead in Formula 1 fell apart. And then arose the Red Bull F1 Racing Team, headed by Christian Horner.
As Red Bull climbed up to the top of the Standings by usurping Mercedes from the coveted spot, the back-and-forth between the Team Principals of the two squads captured the attention of the fans. And thus Christian Horner came to be known as a man with some hard-hitting comments that often have a big impact on the F1 world. His comments have made the Briton a much-discussed personality in Formula 1 as he never shied away from cooking controversy unlike most of his colleagues.
Christian Horner’s quotes have always been applauded for their impact despite being short and sweet. And while discussing their brevity yet the capacity of giving to controversy, a talk-show host on the Red Flags podcast called the Briton the ‘Donald Trump of F1’.
And what I do love is that Christian then just fu**ing weathered him. See, they come with the 10,000-word essay and Christian comes with a tweet. Christian knows how to speak in tweet. Christian is the Donald Trump of F1, I think.A talk-show host said on the Red Flags podcast.
Christian Horner speaks of Mercedes’ ‘great strength in depth’
In the last couple of seasons, Red Bull have absolutely shattered the dominance that Mercedes had built for themselves throughout their eight years of winning Championships in the pinnacle of motorsports. In 2023, the German manufacturer failed to score even a single race victory while Red Bull scored 21 wins out of the 22 Grands Prix which were held. Despite these shocking statistics, Christian Horner has refused to believe Mercedes are completely out of ther form.
The Briton recently said that there is a great strength to Mercedes that can help them come back to their winning ways in 2024.
Mercedes has great strength in depth. Obviously, they've had a difficult period, but they have great drivers and they will get it together, one would assume, at some point.Christian Horner said, via Mirror.co.uk.
In other news, Christian Horner has said that there will be increased competition for Red Bull in the upcoming season and that fighting for the Championship will not be as smooth-sailing as it was in 2023. Now, it remains to be seen if Horner’s prediction comes true or not.
