FIA has recently come under the radar of many people because of the time they took, in coming out with a decision regarding Sergio Perez’s foul play, during the safety car incident at the Singapore GP.
Moreover, former Renault Boss, Flavio Briatore has made critical remarks about FIA’s decision-making and has indicated that when they have the technology, why do they take a lot of time in making concrete decisions?
When the chequered flag fell at the Singapore GP, the race was not officially over, as FIA took several hours in coming up with a decision regarding Sergio Perez’s safety car incident.
However, when the decision was finally made public, the Mexican driver was given a 5-second time penalty that did not change the result of the race.

The delay in decision-making has not sat well with Flavio Briatore and while talking about the Singapore GP, he said, “It’s not Formula 1’s fault, it’s FIA’s fault, and we absolutely have to change. This can ruin a race and affect the championship. If there had been a foul, why wait hours when you can decide in a minute with all the technical means to exhaust?”
Flavio Briatore: FIA should be set up more like a business

After looking at the shenanigans of the Singapore Grand Prix, Flavio is not at all pleased and has suggested that FIA should be set up more like a business. He has urged the hierarchy to make more use of the technology and the resources that are more often than not, sitting dormant at their disposal.
Flavio Briatore has been associated with F1 for over 25 years and has won the F1 Championship four times with Benetton and Renault.
The 72-year-old, moreover, is also famous for getting suspended from F1 for the rest of his life, the lifetime ban came about because of a controversy surrounding the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix that was later known as incident ‘Crashgate.”

The former Renault boss has said some wise words regarding what the FIA should do in order to come up with quick decisions, and considering how unpredictable the sport has become in recent years, it is probably the right way forward.
