Formula 1 will soon head to Las Vegas for the penultimate round of the 2023 season. The Las Vegas GP is arguably the most highly-anticipated race in recent history. Fans and teams are excited to visit Sin City next weekend. However, this has brought up the question of whether the team members could try their luck in some iconic casinos in Vegas.
The Las Vegas GP will see drivers race on the iconic city Strip. The Vegas Strip is the most prestigious part of the city with some of the biggest casinos and hotels concentrated at this location. However, Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff made it clear that the Silver Arrows will keep all its members away from casinos during the weekend. The Austrian believed that it was necessary to keep the staff away from gambling.
I’ve never been to Vegas so we’re going to keep everybody out of the casinos. I don’t play, so I’m going to make sure that nobody plays.
Toto Wolff said as reported by Total-Motorsport
Moreover, Wolff’s counterpart at Aston Martin, Mike Krack reckoned that Sin City had several distractions. As such, it is crucial that the entire team remains focused on the street race. Subsequently, Krack hinted that the members of the Silverstone-based team would be prohibited from visiting casinos.
Las Vegas itself will be a lot of distractions, it’s important to focus on the track… It’s great that we go there and I think F1 will just grow from it, but I shared Toto’s concern about where the how we get there.
Mike Krack said as reported by Total-Motorsport
This is expected to be the case for the entire F1 grid in Vegas. Teams want their members to stay focused on the race and not indulge in any other activities.
F1 Las Vegas GP set to be a mega event
The Las Vegas GP is expected to be a massive event. Formula 1 and Liberty Media have invested almost half a billion dollars in the race. The sport has even taken up the role of the race promoter for this Grand Prix. Subsequently, F1 and the teams are convinced that the street race in Sin City would certainly be a success.
Liberty Media reportedly expects to earn around $100 Million every year from the Vegas race. F1 has already planned to keep the race on its calendar for the long term. However, the race has faced backlash from locals as well as fans due to a host of issues, including road closures and expensive ticket prices.

Nevertheless, Formula 1 is optimistic about the prospects of the inaugural Las Vegas GP. Teams and drivers believe that it would be a challenging weekend due to the cold temperatures at night in the city. However, this could further provide more action-packed racing for viewers across the world and in the grandstands.
