Will Lewis Hamilton race this weekend at Italian GP after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II demise?
Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton was one of the most impressive drivers during the Dutch GP and we haven’t said that a lot of times during this season. The seven-time world champion looked in sparkling form on race day after a tough qualifying session. Although Lewis could only finish P4 at the end of the race due to an untimely safety car, there were a lot of positives for Mercedes to take from that performance.
It was a solid foundation laid down by Lewis Hamilton to build on from and to get that elusive race win. There hasn’t been one season in his career which has finished without race win to his name. He would have wanted to do that at Monza but there are chances that he wouldn’t even feature in the race after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s demise.
Lewis Hamilton, who himself is a knight, might have to travel back to attend the funeral. Although the reports are that Her Majesty’s funeral will be 12 days after the day of her death but nothing has been confirmed yet by the Royal Family. But, if a situation like this arises, Lewis Hamilton wouldn’t think twice about traveling back.
Lewis Hamilton will be participating in the Italian GP as of now
The seven time world champion was also very concerned when this news broke out about Her Majesty’s health deteriorating. He quickly sent out a message saying, “I think she’s been such a strong leader for such a long, long time and so resilient.”
“I know she’s always been a real fighter, so my thoughts are with her. Obviously, I don’t have any other more information so I don’t know more about the situation.”
“My thoughts are with the family. My thoughts are with her. My prayers are with them. Hoping for better news soon.”
This would have been a huge blow for Lewis Hamilton when the news of Her Majesty’s death would have broken out. But, as far as the current situation stands, the seven time world champion will be participating in the Italian GP. He would start from the back of the grid after Mercedes confirmed he’ll be taking a grid penalty.
