Red Bull won the 2022 Emilia Romagna GP in a truly dominating fashion with 2021 Champion Max Verstappen winning his second race of the season. The Dutchman qualified in pole position, led every lap of the race, won the race and claimed the fastest lap of the race along with his win in the sprint race making it a grand slam victory. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez finished P2 making it a Red Bull One-Two for the first time since Malaysia 2016.

Max and Sergio praised the way the car was set up for the weekend as the team claimed maximum points despite erratic weather on Friday and Sunday. The wet weather conditions on Friday’s qualifying round saw 5 Red Flags while in the main race, DRS was disallowed owing to the wet track conditions.

Former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi claims Red Bull set up their car perfectly despite the tricky conditions largely due to “a bit of luck” and went on to put on one of the most dominant racing performances in recent F1 memory.

Red Bull was one of the only teams to introduce upgrades ahead of the first sprint races of the 2022 season. The team took a gamble ahead of the Imola GP weekend but ended up taking the right call for the team. And Jean Alesi claims the team’s perfect set-up was crucial as they celebrated a major milestone in Ferrari’s own backyard.

Alesi told Corriere della Sera “At Imola, with the sprint race and the difficult weather conditions, it was impossible to understand how best to set up the cars. Red Bull, with a bit of luck, immediately went in the right direction. With three practice sessions and normal conditions, I don’t know if It ended like last Sunday.”

Max Verstappen claimed all the maximum possible 34 points this weekend with a win the sprint race and the fastest lap of the Emilia Romagna GP. He moves to 2nd on the Drivers standings trailing Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Red Bull’s 1-2 allows them to advance to 2nd in the Constructors championship with 113 points, 9 behind leaders Ferrari.
