Max Verstappen, since the culmination of the Sao Paulo GP, has become a hot topic of discussion for all the wrong reasons, and F1 analyst, Martin Brundle has also recently weighed in on the situation.
Max Verstappen has got heavily criticized for not coming to the aid of Sergio Perez at the Sao Paulo GP and while many have completely blasted the Dutchman for his actions, Martin Brundle while doing the same has said, “it would have cost Max nothing.”
The F1 Analyst is on point in his assessment as Verstappen has already got the 2022 F1 Championship in his bag, and giving up his sixth place in favor of his teammate would have hardly affected him in any way.
Moreover, had the 25-year-old given up his place, Sergio Perez could have gone to the upcoming Abu Dhabi GP, ahead of Charles Leclerc in the drivers’ standings. Charles and Sergio are both on 290 points after 21 races and are going to the Yas Marina Circuit level on points.
Martin Brundle indicates that Max Verstappen should show respect toward Sergio Perez

Max Verstappen after comfortably dominating the 2022 F1 season may have won the World Championship, but Martin Brundle has made it known that, despite the accolades, one requires friends in the sport.
While stressing on the same, Brundle added, “This is not a popularity contest, it’s the brutal world of F1, but you still need friends and respect, and giving Sergio a meager sixth place when the championship is already in his pocket would have cost Max nothing. It’s the second boomerang in two races that has come back to hit Max pretty hard“

Martin Brundle has been associated with F1 for many years and knows quite well how important it is to have friends in the sport. Moreover, he has suggested to Verstappen to develop some respect in himself for his team and teammates.
The situation, after the Sao Paulo GP, has escalated very quickly, and considering that Sergio Perez might require Max Verstappen’s assistance in Abu Dhabi, would the 2022 Champion help Perez, or just like at Interlagos, turn his head in the opposite direction?
