“You have to remove these people,” Robert Van Overdijk sends a stern message to Dutch fans following incidents of misbehavior in Austria

The start of the F1 sprint race of the Austrian Grand Prix weekend,.

The F1 Austrian Grand Prix was amazing for the drivers and for the fans, but at the same time there were many issues that were created by the fans. The Dutch Grand Prix officials have announced recently that they will be taking actions if anything similar happens in their race. What happened in Austria is misleading and disgusting at the same time. The stands were filled with Verstappen fans, but there were also some Hamilton fans, and the orange army took advantage of the same by harassing them, physically and verbally.

The sport is for the fans, and the 2021 rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen has raised this toxicity between the fans. But the officials of the Dutch Grand Prix want to make sure that nothing similar happens. Van Overdijk realizes that many of the same Dutch people who were in Austria will also be in Zandvoort, but there will be a significant difference: many of them will bring their wives and kids because this is a “pure family event” here. However, that does not exclude it from taking place there. Van Overdijk emphasizes that the risk exists everywhere there are large gatherings of people, but that this was an ordinary case of a few bad apples wrecking things for the rest.

In order to make the weekend safe for everyone, the organizers have stated that there would be extra security and there would be an eye watching out for any verbal or physical abuse towards anyone in the stands, and they would be thrown out of the track at once. “As far as I am concerned, there is only one measure for misbehaviour. You have to remove these people from the site. No tolerance, no pat on the back. You just don’t want those people here,” GPblog quoted Van Overdijk. The Dutch Grand Prix is scheduled to be on 2nd to 4th September this year, and it would be the 15th round in this year’s championship.
