“You made the difference” Mattia Binotto hails champion mentality of Charles Leclerc after CLUTCH Austrian GP win
Charles Leclerc wins the Austrian Grand Prix.
Mattia Binotto, Ferrari team principal, was pleased with the victory Charles Leclerc was left hanging on after the Australian GP, and that finally came down to the Red Bull Ring. Charles Leclerc won the Austrian GP taking his third victory of the season, this is the first time after the 3rd round of the season that Charles had stepped up to the top step of the podium, beating the rivals on their own ground.
Charles overtook Max Verstappen three times for the lead and was looking very fast with the dominant pace. But things got close in the ends lap with Leclerc’s having his issues with his pedal. Anyway, the sweet victory came to the Ferrari driver and was praised by everyone for his Champion drive in the Red Bull Ring.
Mattia Binotto praised Charles for his drive with the issues at the end, “You made the difference that a champion makes. Bravo, I’m happy for you, ” said Binotto.
Ferrari is to get back the Momentum but still having issues with Reliability
Ferrari was the faster team on the Austrian circuit, they were clearly looking forward to a 1-2 finish, but were again troubled with the reliability issues that Carlos Sainz was out of the race, just 10 laps before the end. Carlos was on his way to overtaking Max for the second position and almost did it before his engine blew up and was on fire.
“Engine ENGINE! NO NO NO!” Carlos’ radio message after the engine failure.
Now Charles is 38 points behind Max Verstappen and will look ahead to cover the gap as much as he can before the Summer break. Ferrari is still 56 points behind Red Bull and needs to work on the engine reliability as well as their strategic planning to get the gap covered, which is very much possible.
