The AlphaTauri F1 team has become a hot topic of discussion in recent days. The rumor mill has been running wild with speculation around the two seats on the team next year and ahead of the Japanse Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda has made it known that there is no reason for him to lose his seat.

Most of the F1 teams have locked in their drivers for next year’s F1 campaign and AlphaTauri is among the few who are still to put pen to paper regarding its 2024 drivers line-up. Both seats on the team are wide open for next year with there being three contenders in the lights of Yuki Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo, and, Liam Lawson.

Tsunoda was recently asked to give his take on the rumors surrounding him for next year and while talking about the same, he said, “I’m hopeful, but in the end it’s up to Red Bull and Honda. I believe the leaders of Red Bull have a different feeling and impression on me this season, so I feel that there is no reason to lose the seat.”

I’m not too worried about next year, now I’m just focusing on improving my performance. I have a strong desire to fight alongside with AlphaTauri for the year rather than the reserve driver.” The Japanese starlet has made it clear that he does not see himself losing his seat and wants to continue fighting with the team.

Liam Lawson’s run of form has put doubts into the minds of Helmut Marko and Co.

While Yuki Tsunoda has oozed confidence around keeping hold of his AlphaTauri seat for next year, all the doubts have crept up in the minds of Helmut Marko and Co. because of the brilliant job Liam Lawson is doing in the absence of Daniel Ricciardo. The New Zealander even scored his first-ever F1 points at last weekend’s race.

Lawson has grabbed his opportunities with both hands and has amassed quite a lot of attention from up and down the F1 paddock. Moreover, Daniel Ricciardo has been in the Red Bull family for a long time and is being seen as a driver who would lead AlphaTauri’s charge during next year’s campaign.

All this has put Yuki Tsunoda in a tricky position, and as things stand, his F1 future is up in the air. The Japanese driver was only able to manage a DNF at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, and if he is to ensure that he keeps hold of his seat, he would need to start putting in consistent performances from Suzuka onwards.
