Yuki Tsunoda reportedly set to sign AlphaTauri contract extension
Yuki Tsunoda has delivered impressive results this season to convince AlphaTauri for a new contract.

Yuki Tsunoda made his F1 debut in 2021 with AlphaTauri. The Japanese driver made his mark in the first round of the season in Bahrain. Albeit, Tsunoda did struggle over the course of the year. The 23-year-old has matured and provided consistent results this season including outperforming the now-ousted Nyck de Vries. it seems that the Red Bull sister team will renew Yuki Tsunoda’s contract for next season.
As per a report by F1 journalist Kemal Şengül, AlphaTauri is ready to sign Tsunoda for the 2024 F1 season. As the Japanese driver has impressed the team with his results this year despite racing with one of the slowest cars on the grid. Red Bull management is satisfied with the 23-year-old’s performances after Yuki Tsunoda managed to overshadow a Formula E world champion like Nyck de Vries.
Although, no official information is available regarding Tsunoda’s future contract with AlphaTauri. It has been said that it is likely that the Japanese driver will remain in Faenza for next season. Yuki Tsunoda is now teammates with Daniel Ricciardo. As the Australian driver was called to replace the ousted de Vries from the Hungarian GP.

Yuki Tsunoda outperformed Daniel Ricciardo at the Belgian GP
When AlphaTauri announced Ricciardo’s return to the Red Bull sister team, many believed that Tsunoda might have a hard time competing against the 8-time race winner. The Japanese driver even failed to match the Honey Badger on their first GP weekend as teammates at the Hungaroring. However, the 23-year-old defied expectations at the following race at Spa-Francorchamps.
Yuki Tsunoda out-qualified Daniel Ricciardo at the Belgian GP. The Australian driver failed to make it out of Q1 after a lap time deletion due to a track limits violation. Subsequently, Tsunoda carried on from a decent Qualifying session and brought home a much-needed point for his team with a P10 finish. While Ricciardo crossed the chequered flag in P16.
Thus, Yuki Tsunoda has continued to impress AlphaTauri and Red Bull this season. The Japanese driver has delivered some impressive results and even annihilated a Formula E world champion as a teammate. Tsunoda would be looking forward to staying with the Faenza-based team next season despite the present challenge of Daniel Ricciardo as his teammate.
