AlphaTauri will be renamed from the 2024 Formula 1 season. This is a part of the team’s rebranding under their sister team, Red Bull Racing. Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s consultant, revealed that there will be new sponsors and a new name. While this has been the hot topic recently as fans speculate about the new name, AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda wants the team to go back to being called Toro Rosso.

In 2019, Toro Rosso announced they would change their name to AlphaTauri from the 2020 season onwards. This was done to promote Red Bull’s fashion label. Yuki Tsunoda joined the F1 grid in 2021 when Toro Rosso was already rebranded to AlphaTauri. He replaced Daniil Kvyat and became Pierre Gaslys teammate. The 23-year-old did not get a chance to drive under the Toro Rosso name.

Ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, Tsunoda was asked about AlphaTauri’s new name in 2024. He replied, “I don’t know… Toro Rosso would be cool.” The young man has revealed his choice for the new name. However, there will be a significant change for the Faenza-based outfit as they will get new managers next year. It is also unclear whether the current line-up of Tsunoda and teammate Nyck de Vries will exist next season.

Tsunoda added, “As long as the car is fast, I don’t mind.” The 23-year-old has evolved as a driver over his time in Formula 1. Many believe that he has grown as a professional sportsman this season. Tsunoda wants to achieve something in the sport and has delivered strong results this season. He extracted the maximum out of the car despite AlphaTauri’s struggle for pace. His performance in the 2023 season got noticed, and he received praise from the fans and the people in the paddock.

Tsunoda wants a fast car to take the fight with the other teams on the grid. He revealed that he does not mind the name as long as the car is fast. The Japanese driver is focused on making a name for himself in the sport. Though his debut in F1 was with Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri, he is open to leaving the Red Bull family. He wants to show his performance to all the teams and reach a point where he can choose where he goes.

Tsunoda has outperformed his teammate, Nyck de Vries, in the first eight rounds of the season. He was so close to scoring points in three races and has been consistent throughout. Tsunoda finished 10th in Australia and Azerbaijan and gave the team their only points this season. AlphaTauri are last in the constructor standings and will hope to improve in the upcoming races. They will depend on Tsunoda to help them move higher in the constructor standings.
