Zak Brown brushes of Lando Norris’ grave criticism of McLaren, claims it just motivates the team
Zak Brown has claimed that McLaren believes in turning their own racer Lando Norris' criticism into motivation to do better this season.
It’s no secret that Lando Norris has been highly critical of the MCL60. While rumours emerged that Lando Norris’s critcism has been quite demotivating for the team, McLarens CEO Zak Brown has denied these claims. In fact, Brown goes out to say that the criticism motivated the team to do better.
Mclaren has performed significantly well in the coming few races. Under the guidance of their new team principal, Andrea Stella, McLaren has performed exceptionally in the last few races before the summer break.
Post the upgrades, Lando Norris came 2nd in the British Grand Prix and both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri stood 2nd and 3rd in the qualifying respectively. In Fact even in the Austrian GP, Lando Norris took the 4th spot in qualifying. Mclaren has significantly improved and the results are showing.
Lando Norris has earlier been spotted saying that car is “pretty terrible to drive.” Now the McLaren CEO, Zak Brown, has claimed that, “We kind of get happy together, we get grumpy together. So, if he’s made a comment, it’s consistent, it’s motivating. We don’t get down, we fight hard. I mean, if you look at how poor the start of the season was, that was hard.”

McLarens poor performance during the start of the season
In the first few races, McLaren was performing horribly. They were qualifying below 10th position and were performing terribly. Both the drivers were highly unmotivated.
In fact in the Australia GP which was driver Oscar Piastri’s hometown, he qualified 16th. McLaren was in a slump.
But with the improvements brought about by McLaren, it now stands at 5th place in the constructors championship. They introduced the upgrades during the Austrian and Silverstone grand prix, and the results are visible.
Thus, McLaren did phenomenally well. Instead of being disheartened and unmotivated after the slump year and unruly remarks from the drivers, they worked on improvising. They have made great upgrades and the drivers are performing pretty good too.
