The McLaren F1 team has not been able to win the F1 World Championship since its last triumph in 2008. The team has struggled to produce a Championship-worthy car. Still, despite this fact, its CEO, Zak Brown, has indicated that with Lando Norris’s racecraft, McLaren can win the coveted title once again.

Zak Brown ardently believes if McLaren can show progress to Lando Norris, then he would have no reason to go elsewhere and give his best for the bright future of the Woking-based team. The 23-year-old is considered by several as one of the best drivers on the modern Formula 1 grid.

Brown wants Norris to keep continuing with McLaren. While talking about the same, he said, as reported by Soymotor, “As long as Norris continues to see our pace and development, I think he will have all the confidence in the world that this team has won twenty world championships and has everything it takes. If you look down, there are so many unknowns about 2026.

I think it’s been hugely important for all of us, and it shows we can do it. Having said that, we haven’t won one yet with Norris, but he loves McLaren, it’s been his family, so I have no doubt his number one choice is to win a world championship with McLaren. I think the best thing we can do to retain him is to show him that we are a team capable of achieving it.

While Zak Brown has made it clear that he wants Lando Norris to be with McLaren for a long time, his current F1 deal is coming to a close at the end of the 2025 F1 season. By the time that season comes around, there would be several teams looking to poach the Dutchman away from the papaya team.

Every F1 team would love to have a driver of Norris’s caliber on their team, and in case McLaren cannot convince him to stay after 2025, the big dogs of the sport would defiantly try to get him on their respective teams. However, the Brit has previously indicated that he loves his current employers.

Lando Norris is extremely young and now and then showcased why he is rated very highly as an F1 driver. He closed out the first leg of the 2023 season on a high note, and considering this, several teams would most probably keep tabs on his exploits during the upcoming second leg of the season.
