“It will be an interesting battle tomorrow,” Max Verstappen eyes a fifth consecutive victory to extend championship lead
Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen finished his qualifying at P2 losing out to his rival Charles Leclerc. Max will be taken down to P7 after serving his grid penalty for a new combustion engine. He has a whole group of cars to pass before he ends up fighting his rival for the win. But Max is optimistic about Sunday considering the package his RB 18 has arrived at Monza with.
Verstappen opted for a new engine at Spa and started back from P14. He covered the distance, overtaking the traffic to win the race by a margin of 18 seconds to his teammate, Sergio Perez at P2. Monza has a much more acceleration percentage around the circuit. With Red Bull’s straight-line dominance, Monza is a much more preferable circuit for the Bulls than any other team on the grid.
Max is very optimistic about his Sunday and hopes to make his way to the top in a much lesser time, “It was close but in general because we chose to go with a little bit more downforce around here I think over one lap it isn’t the best but for tomorrow it can be quite strong. I think all in all it was a good lap. I enjoyed the whole weekend so far,” said Max.

Max Verstappen reckons a strong fight in the main race
Charles Leclerc will start from the pole after beating his rival by 0.145 seconds. Ferrari in general with a low-drag high-speed package looks decently faster at their home race. Max hopes for a strong fight by the Italian team provided he makes his way to the top in lesser time. Charles has won a race already at Monza in 2019 and he understands the track really well.
Max Verstappen on the other hand has never finished a single race on the podium at Monza, “It will be an interesting battle tomorrow. Just to stay out of trouble in the beginning and then start to work my way forward (tomorrow),” said Max.
With a bunch of drivers opting for a Grid penalty at this high-speed circuit, Charles seriously has his way clear for a win, again at Monza. George Russell will be starting P2 with the McLarens in the second row.
