Carlos Sainz suspected to take a Grid Penalty in the upcoming French GP
Carlos Sainz's engine blew up in the Austrian GP
Carlos Sainz might have to take a penalty in the French Grand Prix after an engine change he will have to go through. Carlos had an engine breakdown ending his Austrian GP, that being his third engine for the use. Now he is left with his second engine that has already been used in four races before and the Ferrari struggles to fight reliability. Charles Leclerc has already suffered his penalty for the changes in Canada.
Carlos was on the verge of making a move on Max Verstappen for a overtake taking Carlos to a P2 finish and making it a Ferrari 1-2. But with a new engine in France Carlos could hope for another miracle and maybe a second win of the season. Ferrari has been looking into the issues are trying its best to solve the upcoming problems with its engines
But with an already used engine and the next race being in Hungary things won’t be easy for the Spaniard. Hungry being, not a great track for overtakes so the most sensible plan would be to get the new engines blazing in France.
Charles Leclerc reports for a new engine in SPA
With a new engine already undertaken by the championship protagonist in Canada, it seems the driver will be taking a new engine in SPA as well. If Charles gets a new engine in SPA, that would be his fifth engine of the season. SPA would be a great track for the engine changes as it would serve as the best ‘damage control’ with the overtaking opportunities the track gives. Carlos won’t be able to take his not-so-reliable engine, that would make SPA his sixth race with the same engine.
