The intra-team battle at McLaren between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri is continuing to cook. Both drivers are maximizing points over the race weekends and have helped the team run off in the distance in the constructors’ standings. However, Piastri and Norris are separated for the title lead by just nine points, with the former taking the lead. Now, 2016 F1 champion Nico Rosberg revealed the only way the Briton could emerge victorious in his championship ambitions.

Lando Norris has committed multiple mistakes on race day, which caused him to lose a lot of running against Oscar Piastri. Meanwhile, the Aussie has been flawless in his performances with very few errors. This has helped Piastri maintain his lead. But now, Norris has also come up as a dominant force and isn’t making the 24-year-old’s life any easier in terms of the championship battle.

Looking at the current state, both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are surely going to fight for the title until the very end of the season. McLaren has declared that they won’t interfere with team orders when the two drivers are fighting. Norris’ mentality to take his mistakes too seriously might be affecting his performances this season. As such, Nico Rosberg declared that the 25-year-old wasn’t the quicker out of the two anymore, as both of them were ‘at par’ with one another.

You can’t really say that Lando is a smidge quicker anymore, At some point we need to stop saying that because there’s no basis to that anymore. Oscar has just been extremely quick always, and I see them kind of on a par.

Nico Rosberg said on the Sky Sports F1 podcast

Nico Rosberg reckoned that the main deciding factor for Lando Norris winning the drivers’ title would purely be his own mental strength. The 25-year-old needs to prove just how solid and resilient he can be on the track, despite making mistakes. Rosberg emphasized that he was aware of Norris trying to improve on this front, especially by blocking the untoward negativity spread on social media.

The championship is going to be decided in Lando’s head. That’s my kind of impression unfortunately, it’s how solid can Lando become. I know he’s working on it, blocking social media and all of those things.

Nico Rosberg declares Oscar Piastri has ‘no weaknesses’ against Lando Norris

Oscar Piastri has emerged as one of the better drivers on the current F1 grid in just his third year at McLaren. Piastri has already achieved eight race wins against Lando Norris’ nine since the 2019 season. As such, Nico Rosberg revealed that the Australian has been super strong in his performances this season and has shown little to no weakness.

Nico Rosberg noted that Oscar Piastri surprised him because of his ‘incredibly solid’ performances this year, especially against Lando Norris. The Briton was expected to be the clear No. 1 driver, but recent results have proved otherwise. Hence, Rosberg insisted that Piastri had no weaknesses when it came to racing, which was even scarier for Norris and his championship ambitions this year.

Oscar is super strong, He’s surprised me because we all knew he was a great driver, but last year, Lando still had the edge. This year, Oscar is just incredibly solid, strong and fast. There’s no weaknesses there. What’s his weakness? There are no more, which is a bit scary for Lando because Lando does have weaknesses.

Nico Rosberg noted

McLaren is clearly the most dominant team on the F1 grid, as their lead in the constructors’ title increases to 299 points against Ferrari in second. The team just needs to take care of the two teammates fighting one another for the title. Now, time will tell which driver out of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri conquers the intra-team battle at Woking and is the superior one of the two.
