Former F1 world champion Nico Rosberg has shared his thoughts on Visa Cash App RB driver Yuki Tsunoda. The Japanese driver has been decent for RB, notching 22 points for them so far this season.

Yuki Tsunoda is currently the longest-serving driver for the junior Red Bull team. Having made his debut in 2021, he has charted steady growth in his performances, both individually and collectively. Tsunoda has thereafter deservingly wished for a promotion to the senior team in the near future.

Nico Rosberg has, however, stated Tsunoda’s inconsistency as one of the major reasons for his failed increment. Rosberg also mentioned that the 24-year-old is often aggressive in situations that require him to remain calm and composed.

The problem is there’s a bit of inconsistency there, then his attitude sometimes, you know, is very aggressive, and that’s why he was looked over this year when they were looking to replace Perez potentially.

The Milton-Keynes-based team has talked of promoting Tsunoda ample times in the past but has delivered no concrete verdict. The Japanese now continues to put his head down and perform consistently for RB, who earlier extended the former’s contract.

Ex-F1 driver claims Red Bull has ‘overlooked’ Yuki Tsunoda

Sky Sports pundit Anthony Davidson has opposed Red Bull for their response to Yuki Tsunoda’s rising form in F1. Tsunoda has proved his worth as a top driver this year, despite racing for a mid-table team.

Yuki has been through that journey and he’s not that driver anymore that some may think back to. He’s pretty polished, he’s the finished article now. Poor old Yuki is still getting tarred with that same brush. I am not sure it’s not that easy anymore for anyone to do that against Tsunoda. How does he feel about all this? He’s been overlooked every single time.

Anthony Davidson said on the Sky Sports F1 podcast

Davidson claims that the 24-year-old has developed himself as a polished driver ready to challenge for wins in Formula 1. He also claimed that Tsunoda is being portrayed wrongly, which is hampering his promotion to the main team.

The Japanese driver remains hopeful for a promotion as Formula 1 nears the end of an enthralling 2024 season. The remaining six races will be a stern test of Tsunoda’s abilities, starting from the Austin event onwards.
