Former German F1 world champion Nico Rosberg has shared his thoughts on Red Bull’s 2024 title chances after a lackluster outing at Monza. The Milton-Keynes-based team finished P6 and P8 during the Italian Grand Prix.

Red Bull’s form has seen a declining trend over the past few races. The team started the season strongly, majorly outpacing their rivals on track. However, an upsurge in the performances of McLaren and Ferrari has landed the Milton Keynes-based team’s chances in jeopardy.

You would never have thought it after the first races, but Red Bull could just lose both world championships. That is frightening internally for them.

The Milton-Keynes team is on the verge of being overtaken by McLaren in the constructors’ championship. Their efforts here on will determine their fate as Formula 1 heads into the last eight races of the campaign.

Christian Horner claims Monza exposed hidden issues within Red Bull’s RB20

Christian Horner and his Red Bull team have identified some underlying issues with the RB20 after the Italian Grand Prix. The challenger struggled to find proper pace and balance around the temple of speed, which raised concerns in the minds of many.

I think this circuit has exposed deficiencies that we have in the car versus last year, and I think that we have a very clear issue which has been highlighted this weekend and we know we have to get on top of and address [that], otherwise we put ourselves under massive pressure. I think on other [tracks], running more downforce perhaps hides some of the balance issues that we have, and you can see that we’ve got a disconnection in balance that just isn’t working.

Christian Horner clarified that certain tracks other than Monza unknowingly hid issues with balance and downforce within the RB20. Horner was then pleased to specifically identify the team’s shortfalls and is keen to work on resolving them.

The Milton-Keynes-based team has been struggling with kerbs and bumps for some time. However, the sheer dominance of their last year’s challenger, made the team somewhat neglect the issues, which constitutes a major reason for their current problems. The Azerbaijan GP holds tremendous significance for Red Bull for varied reasons.
