Lewis Hamilton‘s former Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg was commentating on the Chinese GP weekend. Rosberg’s presence in the commentary box as the German could share his insights about the seven-time world champion. The 38-year-old sympathized with Hamilton’s disappointing Q1 elimination in qualifying.
Lewis Hamilton suffered a disappointing end to the qualifying session after managing a P18 lap time and being eliminated. Nico Rosberg reckoned that the entire ordeal was seriously painful for the seven-time world champion. Hamilton’s P2 finish in the sprint race had raised the fan’s hopes through the roof. However, the penultimate corner cost the Briton great time and hence he suffered from an elimination. Hence, Rosberg pointed out that the wind was coming from the back and ruined the 39-year-old’s lap.
That is seriously painful. In 18th position is Lewis. You know the wind is coming from the back there at that part of the track. He had a great lap until then.Nico Rosberg said, as reported by gbnews.com.
Apart from this, Rosberg didn’t hesitate to brutally point out his former teammate’s mistakes. The 38-year-old explained that it was unnecessary to push the limits of the car. According to Rosberg, as a seven-time world champion, Hamilton should’ve known better and avoided the circumstances. The one-time world champion pointed towards the four-tenths lost on the turn and termed it as a ‘disaster’.
It was really unnecessary to push the limit and as a seven-time world champion that is a mistake which should be unavoidable. It's three metres too late and he had the brake balance too far forward. He lost at least four tenths which easily would have put him in Q2. That's a disaster.
Nico Rosberg noted.
Nico Rosberg claims Lewis Hamilton drove ‘better than the car allowed’ during the Sprint race
Regardless of the disappointing Qualifying results, Nico Rosberg didn’t fail to applaud Hamilton’s P2 finish in the Sprint race. The 39-year-old juiced out maximum potential from the lackluster W15 and hence scored crucial points. Due to this, the team was hopeful of better results during the subsequent sessions. However, Hamilton will have a difficult time tomorrow following his P18 qualifying.
Rosberg highlighted that Hamilton drove amazingly well during the first sprint race in China. The W15 had multiple issues during the slow and long corners of the Shanghai circuit. The 39-year-old still managed to fend off against the rivals and score a podium finish. Hence, the 38-year-old added that Hamilton drove ‘better’ than what the challenger allowed him to.
Lewis drove amazingly and drove better than the car would allow.Nico Rosberg mentioned.

The Chinese GP will contain multiple challenges for Lewis Hamilton following a P18 race start. The Briton will have to fight out vigorously in the bottom order of the grid to have a shot at points. Hamilton is currently P9 in the drivers’ standing and might fall down the pecking order if he fails to score points. Hence, the seven-time world champion requires some great points for a comfortable position.
