Oscar Piastri lost out on the 2025 F1 title following a string of controversial situations with McLaren. Piastri led the title campaign for quite some time before losing it all towards the end. The Aussie couldn’t perform well when it mattered the most and ultimately lost the title win disappointingly. Now, despite massive British bias accusations at Woking, the 24-year-old is faithful to the team’s F1 project.
McLaren was accused of British bias following Oscar Piastri‘s mysterious slump in pace. Although Piastri fully denied these accusations, he still shared a cryptic post on social media at the time. Despite the disappointments in 2025, the Aussie is prepared and ready to take on the title fight in the 2026 season.
Looking back at the 2025 season, Oscar Piastri highlighted that many parts of the season were successful for him and the team. The Aussie still had fond memories to look back on over the season. McLaren did commit major blunders in terms of strategy at times, but Piastri still maximized performance whenever possible and delivered the best possible results.
Further, Oscar Piastri noted that through all the difficulties, he gained a lot of confidence in himself and his capabilities. Piastri highlighted that he could cherish these memories forever and keep racing for McLaren in the near future. As such, the Aussie isn’t planning to quit the British constructor anytime soon, and the team’s loyalty will only help him keep working hard towards the goal of ultimate success in Formula 1.
There were so many parts of the season that were successful, and so many parts of the season that I look back on with great memories, The amount of confidence that I found throughout the year, in myself and my own abilities, is something I can take forever.

Oscar Piastri reveals “things to work on” for the 2026 season
Oscar Piastri managed to turn around his results in the final couple of races of the season. However, it was too late then to recover his lost point. As such, for the 2026 season, Piastri will work harder and hope to bounce back stronger. The Aussie insisted that following the learnings and disappointment in the previous year, there were many things to work on before contending for his maiden championship title in F1.

Speaking on the upcoming season, Oscar Piastri noted that there were many things he wished to change about the past, which even McLaren wanted. However, the struggles in the past year were only going to make him stronger for the future. Piastri hinted that he wasn’t planning on calling it quits anytime soon, especially since he has many more years to come in the pinnacle of motorsport.
Definitely some things to work on, and [there were] a few moments that I probably wish I had again, and I’m sure the team think the same. But it’s all going to make me stronger for the future, and we’ve got plenty more years of success to come, hopefully.

The 2026 season will introduce new regulations, which will also bring in uncertainty for the teams. None of the teams is thought to be the clear favorite for now. As such, Oscar Piastri will have to work from the ground up to achieve success under the upcoming regulations. For now, the Aussie is enjoying the winter break before returning to the paddock in a couple of weeks.
