McLaren’s Oscar piastri has been one of the stand-out performers in the first half of the 2024 F1 season. The prolific Australian put in quite a few stellar outings and even managed to amass his maiden victory in the sport at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
With F1 currently being at a halt with the ongoing summer break, Oscar Piastri has taken the time to shed light on the first half of the campaign. From a personal standpoint, Piastri is quite pleased with his performances.
The 23-year-old has so far managed to amass 167 points in the Driver’s Championship.
A lot of the places where I wanted to improve from last season I have. That’s been a really good step forward. I think there’s always still things to improve but I think I’m certainly on the way there.Oscar Piastri via Pitdebiref
Piastri has been on a highly impressive upward trajectory at the pinnacle of motor racing. Moreover, he has proved extremely consistent with his results, which has helped McLaren significantly close the gap to Red Bull in the Constructors standings.
Oscar piastri’s take on his tussle with teammate Lando Norris
While Piastri is content with his 2024 performances, he’s proved second-best against Lando Norris, especially in qualifying. However, despite this, the young Aussie is not too worried as in his opinion, the quali gaps to his teammate haven’t been too big.
My qualifying, I have been reasonably happy. The gap between Lando and I has always been incredibly small, so I think that’s always a good reference.Lando Norris via the same interview
Piastri and Norris are one of the youngest drivers on the current grid. Both of them are extremely adept behind the wheel of an F1 car and considering this, the remaining 10 races of the ongoing campaign will be an extremely fascinating watch. In the upcoming races, a situation like the Hungaroring could arise again between the McLaren drivers where Andrea Stella and Co. would be forced to make tough decisions.
