McLaren suffered from an extremely controversial situation at the Singapore GP involving the two drivers, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. The team had previously asserted that they wouldn’t interfere between the two drivers with Papaya Rules.

However, Norris was awarded the position after the team’s mistake at the Italian GP, but they did not do the same in Singapore. As such, Piastri has berated the situation and pondered over Woking’s ulterior motives.

At the recent Italian GP, Lando Norris suffered from a botched pitstop and lost the P2 position to Oscar Piastri. Although McLaren had declined to interfere with Papaya Rules, Piastri was asked to give back the spot to Norris.

On the contrary, at the Singapore GP, Norris could not control his car and collided with the Aussie, causing him to lose the position to the former. Although the 24-year-old talked about getting the position back on team radio, the team did not interfere then.

Regardless, Oscar Piastri has full faith in the team to remain unbiased and fair between the two drivers. Speaking on the controversies of the Singapore GP, Piastri wasn’t too concerned. The Aussie insisted that the team was ultimately fair between him and Lando Norris. The 24-year-old accepted that there had been some difficult moments for the constructor as well.

Oscar Piastri assured that he had talked about these situations with the team and wasn’t much concerned about them. The 24-year-old reckoned that some things could have been better over the year in terms of teamwork between the two. However, Piastri was delighted that the team’s intentions with these problems were overall positive, and they did not want to put either of the drivers at a disadvantage.

I think ultimately, yes, There’s obviously been some difficult situations for the whole team, and I think we’ve spoken about a number of things. Could things have been better at certain points? Yes, but ultimately, it’s a learning process with the whole team, and I’m very, very happy that the intentions are very well-meaning.

Oscar Piastri declared that he had no concerns about the team favoring Lando Norris over him and putting the former at a disadvantage. Piastri did accept that there were some tough situations regarding the matter this year, with the Singapore GP fiasco being yet another one. Regardless, the Aussie will aim to maintain his championship lead and give it his all against his British counterpart in the final six races.

So I have absolutely no concerns about that. Yeah, just obviously there’s been some tough situations this year, and this is another one.

Oscar Piastri noted.

McLaren’s pace has remained dominant compared to the rest of the grid. However, the rivals have seemingly figured out the issues in performance and are fighting for race wins. George Russell emerged victorious at the Singapore GP and did not make life any easier for Oscar Piastri or Lando Norris. Hence, it will be interesting to witness how the remaining races pan out for the championship leaders.
