McLaren is currently the center of attention for the past couple of weeks, especially because of the Oscar Piastri sabotage claims. The team is being accused of a British bias with Lando Norris. Although the team declined to interfere with team orders, they backtracked on their words and did the very same. However, Piastri has finally broken the silence on the matter and revealed the ground reality.

The entire problem stemmed from the Italian GP and the controversial call to swap drivers back then. Oscar Piastri agreed to give back the position to Lando Norris after some deliberation. However, Norris’ controversial move against his teammate at the Singapore GP was not taken into consideration. The team suffered a lot of criticism for their duality in the matter, with some even accusing the team of being biased towards their British driver.

However, despite the outside noise, Oscar Piastri doesn’t feel that such is the case. Amid the mysterious performance slump in his car, he accepted that the last couple of weekends had been a little trickier for him. Still, he asserted that he had pretty clear answers on why such was the case. Piastri pointed out that there weren’t many mysteries behind his slump anymore.

Oscar Piastri did mention that there were questions of why he needed to drive differently now and was unable to keep up with his winning pace. However, none of the questions were about the alleged British bias within the constructor. Hence, Piastri declared that everything going on in the team was explainable. Moreover, there definitely was no British bias going on within the Woking-based constructor.

I think the last couple of weekends have been a little bit more tricky, but we’ve got pretty clear answers on why that’s the case. There’s not really too many mysteries on what’s kind of happened. I think there’s questions on kind of why some differences have propped up in terms of how I need to drive and stuff like that. But there’s, yeah, everything is explainable. So there’s definitely not that going on.

Oscar Piastri claimed that his real self had not disappeared amid the struggles. He insisted that he just suffered from some intense and tough couple of weekends, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. Piastri claimed that he also learnt some lessons along the way.

Regardless of his slump, the Aussie explained that he was happy with himself and tried his best to execute the best results possible. The 24-year-old’s ultimate goal was to raise the performance and keep striving for better.

I don’t think the real Oscar has disappeared… I think it’s just been a tough couple of weekends [with] some lessons to learn along the way. I feel like the last couple of weekends I’ve been happy in myself that I’ve tried to execute the best of what I’ve been able to do, and ultimately just trying to raise the performance has been the biggest thing.

The 2025 season only has four races to go until completion. A point deficit of a single point isn’t going to be difficult to overcome for Oscar Piastri. But Lando Norris is performing great currently and will definitely not make life any easier for Piastri. Regardless, the championship battle will be extremely interesting and will drag on until the last race.
