Oscar Piastri lost out on the 2025 driver’s title against his teammate, Lando Norris, under some controversial circumstances. Initially, Piastri was prepared to race hard against his British counterpart for the title win.

However, McLaren intervened with team orders on a couple of occasions, and the Aussie lost out on crucial points because of these orders. Now, despite the problems faced in the last year, the 24-year-old isn’t too concerned about his rivalry with Norris and believes he will continue to race for Woking.

Following a mysterious slump in pace, Oscar Piastri lost out on the title win to Lando Norris and couldn’t regain it. The Aussie even refused to play the second fiddle at McLaren following some botched team orders that cost him his running on-track.

Though Piastri started performing well in the final races, it was too late for him to recover the points lost by then. As such, he lost the championship win to Norris by 13 points and ultimately finished in P3 in the standings.

Now, Oscar Piastri was questioned about his thoughts on his partnership with Lando Norris and what it would be like racing against him in the coming seasons. Piastri did not think twice and reassured that Norris was a good person.

Further, he added that the two got on well and worked well at McLaren, as shown by their fun hobbies together when off-track. Speaking on team orders, Oscar Piastri highlighted that he hoped to keep fighting against Lando Norris on-track, that too for the title win.

The 2026 season will introduce new regulations, and no team seems to be the clear favorite so far, not even McLaren. Piastri reiterated that he would keep racing against Norris for many years to come, proving that he did not intend to leave the constructor anytime soon.

No, he’s good. He’s good, We get on well, and we work together well. But yeah, I think we’re gonna be battling each other, hopefully for championships, for many years to come.

Though the Aussie is prepared to give it his all in the coming season, his title loss this year certainly would leave him scarred. Now, ex-F1 driver Jolyon Palmer reveals that Piastri could be labeled as the worthy winner of the championship in the final year of the ground-effect era.

Jolyon Palmer argued that one could make a case for Oscar Piastri being the worthy world champion in the 2025 season. Moreover, Piastri showed a significant improvement in terms of results compared to his previous season, marking an impressive coming of age.

Palmer noted that, unfortunately, the 24-year-old couldn’t win the championship this year, but he will surely win the title in the coming seasons if provided with the right car.

You could make a case for Oscar being a worthy world champion this year and from where he was in 2024 that’s an amazing coming of age. It didn’t happen, but he will certainly start next year with more eyes on him if he has a car to compete again. I think he’s shown he’s got what it takes.

Jolyon Palmer told F1.com.

The 2026 season is right around the corner, and Oscar Piastri is hungry and ready to fight for the title again. Certainly, McLaren will need to work hard on development and ensure that both drivers get equal opportunity in the championship. For now, Piastri will enjoy the off-season and return as an even better force under the new regulations.
