McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are two of the most in-form drivers during the 2024 F1 season. The duo has kept on wracking up massive points for the team, but in the same process, they have also had some heated tussles on the racing track.
The most recent example of this was seen at the Italian Grand Prix where Oscar Piastri pulled off a daring move on the very first lap of the race. Lando Norris did not expect it and later admitted that his teammate’s move was a bit too close for comfort.
While Norris really didn’t like Piastri’s move, the latter has recently admitted to having an element of selfishness while racing.

Looking at the reaction of the 23-year-old, it is quite clear that he is very pleased with the position of McLaren in 2024. However, he has asserted that as a racing driver, there will always be a selfish side to him that will urge him to look after his own interests. His teammate, Norris has an outside chance at the driver’s title this year.
McLaren boldly insists the ‘future is Oscar Piastri’
While Oscar Piastri has admitted to having a selfish side to him, Mclaren is very impressed with their driver’s exploits this season. Despite only being in his second full season, Piastri has been able to take the fight to the prolific Norris.
Moreover, the Australian also secured his maiden win in F1 this year at the Hungarian GP.
If we win both championships, it will be a big boost and it will benefit the team a lot, even if he is the other driver, because we must not forget that Oscar is in the middle of his second season in Formula 1. The future is Oscar's.Andrea Stella via Soymotor
Piastri has upped his game massively since the last few races. Norris got a taste of it at the Monza racing circuit and considering this, next week’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix could also see some fireworks courtesy of the McLaren drivers.
However, despite the ongoing tussle between the two, Andrea Stella and Co. will try to make sure that McLaren gets ahead of Red Bull in the Constructors Championship. Strict team orders could come into play, especially during the 51-lap race.
