Following Norris’ DNF in the race and Piastri’s stellar race win, he has increased his lead to 34 points now. Oscar Piastri remained the better driver in the Dutch weekend and started the race from pole position. The Aussie maintained his lead throughout the race, while Lando Norris had lost his P2 position momentarily to Max Verstappen. Norris’ alleged oil leak in the McLaren challenger forced him to retire while the 24-year-old maximized points and brought home the race win.
Regardless of a stellar race win, Piastri remains humble and claims that there is a long way to go in terms of the championship ambitions. As such, the Australian hopes to keep going and maintain the positive momentum in the nine remaining races. The 24-year-old insisted that he would focus on one race at a time and keep achieving the best results possible.
There’s a long way to go, so we’ll keep going, one race at a time.

Oscar Piastri applauds McLaren’s ‘team efforts’ at the Dutch GP
McLaren was clearly the most dominant team on the grid at the Dutch GP. Woking’s pace remained superior compared to the rest of the grid. This dominant pace helped Oscar Piastri keep the race lead, even during the safety car restart in the final few laps of the race. As such, the 24-year-old applauded the entire crew and their efforts to achieve a turnaround in performance since the beginning of the season.

Oscar Piastri recalled that the ‘difficult’ looking start to the Dutch GP weekend meant that he wasn’t very confident heading into the race. However, a pole position set him right on track for achieving a stellar race win and maintaining the positive momentum. Piastri applauded the team’s efforts to bring everything together in the Qualifying and helped him emerge victorious in the race at the end.
The start of the weekend looked like a difficult one, got it together in Qualifying and very happy with this one. A couple of Safety Cars to spice it up. It was a big team effort.

McLaren has increased its lead in the constructors’ standings even more after Ferrari suffered from a double DNF in the Dutch GP. Woking is more or less the champion, as no other team seems capable enough to bridge the exorbitant amount of disparity in points. For now, Piastri will soak in the race win and start preparing for the upcoming race weekend at the Italian GP.
