Former F1 driver Patrick Friesacher reckoned that Sergio Perez needs Red Bull's support after failing to deliver in the past few races.

Sergio Perez has been struggling to perform for Red Bull since May of this year. Perez at the beginning of the season was just behind teammate Max Verstappen, securing possible podiums. However, there was a drastic fall in his performance since the Emilia Romagna GP. The recent Belgian GP was another bad run for the Mexican as he secured seventh position despite qualifying third. This race could’ve been his last with Red Bull, but Milton Keynes decided to keep him. Former F1 driver Patrick Friesacher believes the summer break is beneficial for Perez to regroup and gain perspective.
Patrick Friesacher believed that the summer break is a great opportunity for Sergio Perez. According to Friesacher, the break will allow Checo to relax and take a step back from the intense pressure of racing. It will give him a chance to clear his mind, reflecting on his recent struggles, and regroup mentally. This will eventually help him in racing the last 10 rounds of the season and better prepared to tackle the situations.
This break is good for Sergio Perez. It gives him time to take a deep breath.Patrick Friesacher said, as reported by GPBlog.com
The former F1 driver reckoned that Red Bull had become a one-man team recently, due to the 34-year-old’s struggles and to prove this they’re completely supporting him. However, Friesacher thought that Red Bull’s choice to keep Sergio Perez on the team is a positive sign. He believed that by staying with the team, Perez will feel supported and encouraged. This backing from Red Bull can boost Checo’s confidence and morale, which is important because he’s been struggling. If the Mexican would come to know his team believes in him, he can improve from his recent difficulties. The 43-year-old felt that this support is crucial for Checo to break out from his current situations.
They have recently become a one-man team... Red Bull's decision to continue with him shows that they are behind him. That is good for him and can help him get out of the downward spiral he is currently in.Patrick Friesacher added.
Patrick Friesacher asserts small things take away Sergio Perez’s confidence
Patrick Friesacher pointed out that Sergio Perez puts a lot of pressure on himself throughout the season. The Mexican has big goals, like winning races and becoming a world champion, which makes him set very high standards for himself. So, even small issues, like not feeling perfectly comfortable with the car during practice sessions, stresses him out. Therefore, Friesacher explained when things don’t go as planned for Checo, it affects his confidence and performance.
But Sergio himself builds up the pressure during the year. He wants to win races, he wants to be world champion. It’s enough if a few small things don’t go right in free practice and he doesn’t feel 100 per cent comfortable in the car.Patrick Friesacher stated
Certainly, Patrick Friesacher reckoned Sergio Perez must not take such minor pressures. Instead he must focus on winning the race he’s racing for that time. The next 10 rounds are the final opportunity given by Red Bull to the Mexican. That would define if he will stay with the team or they will evaluate his contract.
