Max Verstappen has dominated Formula 1 in recent years. The Dutch driver managed to win the 2024 title despite a tough contest against McLaren’s Lando Norris. Now, RB CEO Peter Bayer has applauded the capabilities of the four-time world champion.

Bayer reckoned that Max Verstappen was the ideal blueprint for modern Formula 1. The RB boss recalled that Verstappen was the best at go-karting as a kid and moved up the motorsport ladder quickly. The Red Bull star managed to defy the norm and was promoted to Formula 1 at the age of 17.

Max is a blueprint for modern Formula 1. It’s being the best in karting, then going right into F1 at 17.

Peter Bayer highlighted how Verstappen’s F1 promotion in 2015 triggered the change in FIA Super License by then-President Jean Todt. Todt ensured that no driver can be signed by an F1 team at the age of 17 in the future, something which still stands today.

He even provoked Jean Todt [then FIA president] to change the super licence.

Max Verstappen ignores ‘fireworks’ in F1

The RB CEO asserted that Max Verstappen’s driving capabilities were a known fact. Bayer claimed that there was something that impressed him more than the Dutchman’s racing skills. He highlighted that Verstappen was simply able to ignore all the noise and fireworks in the sport, while focusing on his performance.

As a driver, we all know what he’s capable of doing with that car, but I am more impressed with how he can simply ignore all the noise and fireworks in Formula 1.

Peter Bayer noted

Certainly, Max Verstappen does not care about controversies in F1. The 27-year-old speaks his mind without any filter in any situation. This has divided opinions of many on the grid. However, Verstappen is concerned only about his on-track results.
